I’ve been dancing since 1960 and calling since 1963. I lost a bet to my mother who insisted that I try square dancing at least three times. The third time hooked me. I taught my first class in 1963 after borrowing money from my folks to buy a small sound system. I was able to pay them back before the class was over and I’ve been calling ever since!

I call and teach the Basic through C-1 programs, prompt contras, teach line dances, and also enjoy dance party events when my schedule allows.

I currently teach for the Buckles & Bows Square Dance Club in Thousand Oaks, California. We teach the Social Square Dance program which enables us to teach two classes a year plus a Summertime Funshop of the SSD calls.

Calling has given me the opportunity to travel extensively in the United States, Canada, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Germany, Costa Rica, New Zealand, Australia, and Japan. I still feel “dancing as a team of eight” is the best recreation in the world.

I’m a recently retired dentist so calling has been an avocation quite different from my “Dr. Mike” side. Thankfully, my wonderful wife Lisa, my family, and staff have been a tremendous support.

Please take a look around my site. Reach out to me if you have any questions!
